Our Story
Building Communities, Training Leadership
Nice to meet you, we are Machon Kehilot.
We provide guidance and support to leaders and activists who wish and are prepared to found and lead communities in their local settings.
We do this through workshops, training programs, and personalized mentoring, alongside leveraging our network of partnerships and collaborators.

Who we are
Machon Kehillot began its journey in Amsterdam in early 2012. The joy and spark in the eyes of our community members, and the gratitude they expressed for this shared space, made it clear: this experience wasn’t something we could keep to ourselves. We needed to share it with others.
At the time, Israeli communities in Europe at least in the model we envisioned — simply didn’t exist. We felt like pioneers. Gradually, our vision became reality.
We turned our experience into language, a way to explain what we were doing to anyone who was curious. We traveled across Europe, meeting dozens of people like us: people who longed to start a community but didn’t know how or where to begin.
A decade later, we are active in many European cities, connecting dozens of communities, mentoring and training hundreds of community leaders, educators, and social entrepreneurs, and supporting cross-community projects.
Our work is carried out by a team of peers and professionals with extensive experience in relevant fields including social entrepreneurship, leadership, community building, budgeting and planning, Hebrew education, and managing cultural and social initiatives.
We believe that strong communities grow from within
and that local leaders have the power to lead meaningful, lasting change.
What we do in Machon Kehilot
Machon Kehilot is an independent nonprofit organization.
We are not affiliated with political or religious institutions.
Our work is made possible thanks to the generosity and commitment of those who believe in the importance of building Israeli communities in the Diaspora.
